Understanding Your Chiropractic Payment Options

One of the most common reasons people delay seeking chiropractic care — even when they are in significant pain — is uncertainty about cost. Will my insurance cover this? What if I do not have insurance? What if I was hurt in a car accident and the claim is still open?

These are completely reasonable questions, and we want to answer them clearly. At Evergreen Spinal Health Center, we work with patients across a wide range of financial situations, and we are committed to making sure cost is not a barrier to getting the care you need.

Health Insurance

We accept most major health insurance plans, including many PPO and HMO plans that include chiropractic benefits. Coverage varies significantly by plan — some cover a set number of visits per year, others require a referral, and some have specific deductibles or copays for chiropractic services.

When you call to schedule your first appointment, our front desk will verify your benefits before your visit so you know exactly what to expect. We will explain your coverage clearly, including any out-of-pocket costs, before you commit to care.

Medicare

We accept Medicare for patients who qualify. Medicare covers chiropractic care for the treatment of subluxation (spinal misalignment) when it is medically necessary. There are some limitations on what Medicare covers, which we will explain in detail during your consultation.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) — Auto Insurance

If you were injured in a car accident, your auto insurance policy likely includes Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage. PIP pays for your medical care — including chiropractic treatment — regardless of who was at fault in the accident.

Washington State requires a minimum of $10,000 in PIP coverage on all auto insurance policies, and many policies carry significantly more. PIP coverage is one of the most straightforward ways to pay for post-accident chiropractic care, and we work with PIP claims regularly.

We handle the billing directly with your insurance company, so you can focus on recovering rather than navigating paperwork.

Personal Injury Liens

If you were injured in an accident caused by another party and you have an attorney handling your personal injury claim, you may be eligible for a lien arrangement. Under a lien, we provide your care now and are paid from the settlement proceeds when your case resolves.

This arrangement means you can receive the treatment you need immediately — without waiting for your case to settle or paying out of pocket — and we are compensated when the legal process concludes.

Dr. Joy has extensive experience working with personal injury attorneys and providing the detailed documentation that supports successful claims. If you have an attorney, we are happy to coordinate directly with their office.

Cash Pay and Payment Plans

For patients without insurance coverage or who prefer to pay directly, we offer competitive cash pay rates and flexible payment plans. We believe that access to quality chiropractic care should not depend on your insurance status, and we work with patients to find arrangements that fit their budget.

Please ask about our current cash pay rates and payment plan options when you call.

A Note on Cost vs. Value

We understand that any healthcare expense requires consideration. What we would encourage you to think about is the cost of not treating your condition.

Chronic back pain, unresolved whiplash, and progressive scoliosis all tend to worsen over time without appropriate care. The cost of managing a chronic condition for years — in pain medication, lost productivity, and reduced quality of life — almost always exceeds the cost of addressing the underlying problem early.

Our goal is to get you better as efficiently as possible, with a treatment plan that is appropriate for your condition and your budget.

If you have questions about payment options before scheduling, please call us at (253) 683-4277. We are happy to talk through your situation and help you understand your options.

Frequently Asked Questions About Chiropractic Payment Options

Does health insurance cover chiropractic care?

Most major PPO and HMO health insurance plans include chiropractic benefits. Coverage varies by plan — some cover a set number of visits per year, others require a referral, and most have specific deductibles or copays. Evergreen Spinal Health Center verifies your benefits before your first visit so you know your out-of-pocket costs upfront.

What is a personal injury lien for chiropractic care?

A personal injury lien allows you to receive chiropractic care now and pay from your settlement proceeds when your case resolves. If you were injured in an accident caused by another party and have an attorney, you may qualify for a lien arrangement — meaning no out-of-pocket cost until your claim settles.

Does Medicare cover chiropractic treatment?

Yes. Medicare covers chiropractic care for the treatment of subluxation (spinal misalignment) when it is medically necessary. Evergreen Spinal Health Center accepts Medicare and will explain any coverage limitations during your consultation.
